El Floridita AKA Hemingway Daiquiri

This delicious cocktail was invented by the legendary Constantino Ribalaigua Vert, who poured 10 million daiquiris in his lifetime. Ernest Hemingway loved daiquiris so much, he would order doubles, earning his order the name “Papa Doble.” Yolo Rum is honored to continue the tradition of this delicious cocktail. Enjoy a Papa Doble today! YOLO!

While Ernest Hemingway is best known for his novels and short stories, he was also a notorious drinker. He was especially fond of the Daiquiri, and he even helped to popularize the cocktail during his time in Cuba. Today, there are many different versions of the Hemingway Daiquiri, but the most common recipe calls for rum, grapefruit juice, fresh lime juice, and maraschino liqueur. For an extra touch of flavor, we recommend adding a splash of simple syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Yolo Rum Silver
  • 3/4 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 oz maraschino liqueur
  • splash of simple syrup
  • garnish with a maraschino cherry

Instructions:

To make the perfect Hemingway Daiquiri, simply combine all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Then, shake and strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Cable Car Cocktail

Yolo Rum version of the Cable Car: a classic rum sour, elegant and delicious. Invented by Tony Abou-Ganim, it’s named after the cable car tracks by the bar he worked at in San Francisco. Yolo Rum is perfect for this cocktail, providing a smooth and robust flavor that elevates the drink without overwhelming it. The Cable Car is often made with spiced rum, but Yolo Rum Gold, aged for 10 years, will do the trick. We also recommend using fresh lemon juice and simple syrup for the best results.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Yolo Rum Gold
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz curaçao liqueur
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 1 egg white beaten
  • Cinnamon and sugar for glass rim
  • garnish with an orange peel spiral

Instructions:

To make the Cable Car, simply combine Yolo Rum Gold, curaçao liqueur, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and strain into a chilled glass that’s rimmed with cinnamon and sugar and garnish with an orange peel spiral.
