Who is Yolo Rum Investor Nolan Carroll
Yolo Rum Investor, Nolan Carroll, is a former American football defensive cornerback that played in the National Football League (NFL) for over 7 seasons. Nolan Carroll had a scholarship offer from Colorado University but started his college career as a wide receiver, before transitioning to defensive back in Maryland. Drafted in the 5th round by Miami in 2010. Nolan played four years in Miami before signing with Philadelphia for the 2014 season and then finished his career in Dallas as a Cowboy. However, there is much more to Nolan than being a professional football player.
Life outside of football
In 2014 he started the Nolan Carroll Foundation a program that supports (STEM) Science Technology Engineering and Math educational opportunities, job skill training, and promotes and encourages physical activities for underprivileged and at-risk youths. The mission of the Foundation is intended to broaden the horizons and increase opportunities for underprivileged and at-risk youths. Providing students a potential opportunity to break the cycle of poverty, achieve their greatness, and help improve their quality of life.
Besides Nolan’s philanthropic work, he has also thrived in business as an entrepreneur and investor. In a 2019 interview, Nolan addressed a question about the intersection of athletics and business.
Do you think your experience as a professional athlete gave you skills that make you a better entrepreneur? Can you give a story or example about that?
“100% I most definitely feel that many things I learn on the football field translate to business. Working as a team in the business is vital to growing because I am not the only one with ideas, the people I work with I make sure that the part they play is just as important as the part I play. I want associates of mine to know I am not above them or they are below me. We are one team with one common goal in mind and we all need to stay aligned on that goal. It gives us purpose, a vision to accomplish what we set out to do. Just like an NFL team, if all 11 guys on offense and defense are not on the same page, you will have a hard time accomplishing anything or winning any game. Anytime I get to use football to implement in business I use it full throttle because a team can take you farther than any individual can.”
