Never provide, serve, or sell alcohol to teens
Did you know April is Alcohol Responsibility Month? This month is a great time to take a stand in your community about your commitment never to provide, serve, or sell alcohol to teens. It’s important to remember that we all play a role in keeping alcohol out of the hands of teens.
Responsibility starts with all of us
Although drinking among high school seniors has declined significantly in recent years, more work still needs to be done. Yolo Rum is committed to never serving, supplying, or selling alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age. We are proud supporters of the We Don’t Serve Teens campaign and believe it is everyone’s responsibility to keep alcohol out of the hands of teens.
Alcohol Awareness Month
The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) sponsors Alcohol Awareness Month every April to increase awareness and understanding of alcoholism and drug dependence. The NCADD also encourages community organizations to host events that raise awareness about the dangers of underage drinking and how people can get help for substance abuse issues.
Resources
SAMHSA’s National Helpline provides free, confidential, 24/7 treatment referral and information service for those struggling with addiction or mental health issues. The helpline can be reached by calling 1-800-662-HELP (4357). Many online resources are available such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Al-Anon Family Groups, SMART Recovery®, and more.
#WeDontServeTeens
We all need to do our part in preventing underage drinking by discussing its risks openly with our kids and setting clear expectations around alcohol use before they reach college age. Let’s ensure we do everything we can this April during Alcohol Responsibility Month! #WeDontServeTeens www.wedontserveteens.org
