Carnival A Night In Rio In Denver Wrap Up

Denver’s 2015 Carnival – A night in Rio at Mile High Station.

A special one of a kind annual fundraiser benefiting Denver Kids, Inc.

Carnival – A Night In Rio is a one-of-a kind annual fundraiser.  Proceeds are donated to Denver Kids Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to helping Denver Public Schools students who face the challenges of higher risk environments successfully complete high school, pursue post-secondary options, and become contributing members of the community.  The event was for a great cause, and The Denver Kids Inc. Young Professionals Council put on an awesome event that did not disappoint.
The festivities of the evening were themed around the entire Carnival experience in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, a world famous festival held before Lent every year and considered the biggest carnival in the world.  The atmosphere was a very festive one indeed, and bars throughout the venue were stocked with plenty of Yolo Rum to keep the party moving.  With carnival inspired music pumping up the crowd, the party revelers made their way about the venue to take part in various activities including a silent auction and face painting stations throughout the event.  Keeping the Carnival vibe alive were stiltwalkers, jugglers, and party attendees dressed to impress and topped off with boas, masks, necklaces, and other festive attire.  The VIP crowd was treated to delicious food from Cranelli’s Italian Restaunt, a popular family owned Italian restaurant in Lone Tree.

As Mile High Station filled up, and Carnival reached a fevered pitch, it was time for the main event as we were treated by two superb performances by a pair of fire dancers from Lumina Entertainment, as well as a thoroughly entertaining act by the beautiful ladies of Bella Diva Dance.  As the performers gave way to the general public, and the dance floor was again occupied by a crowd of random moving bodies, hula-hooping, and dancing about to the Brazilian style beats.  Ultimately as the dance floor began to fill back up, and the music eventually drifted from samba, to “Turn Down for What”, but nobody was “turning down”, not tonight.  And this one was for the kids.  The ultimate party for a purpose.  And that’s why we enjoyed every minute of it, because after all, You Only Live Once.

Central Florida Rum and Food Experience 2015

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Saturday, January 24th in Lakeland Yolo Rum attended the birth of “Central Florida’s Rum and Food Experience” event held by the Kiwanis Club as a fundraiser for their charity. The event was held at The Lakeland Center in Sikes Hall in downtown Lakeland. As we all know, first year events of this size and nature can be daunting, but the Kiwanis nailed it with over 600 attendees. The room had a nice flow of booths containing by our guess, 30-40 different rums and a tasty group of food vendors. At 3:00pm as scheduled the lights dimmed, the band (Munn Park Saints) started, and the doors opened to streams of people coming in to soak up the good times. What a great vibe and great group of people! Yolo Rum’s own Eric Swanson and the lovely Susan Webb served samples of our award winning Yolo Aged & Yolo Silver rums along with samples of the signature “Yolo Yummy” that were well received by all. (And well received several times by some through out the night I might add~) Around 7:00pm a wonderful afternoon of rum, food and friends ended to a roar of chatter about “next year”. Yolo Rum would be proud to be a part of the Rum and Food Experience in 2016!

A big THANK YOU to Matthew Cantrall and all the great folks and volunteers involved at Kiwanis who help put on this amazing event helping people remember… You Only Live Once. Photos courtesy of Yolo Rum’s own Eric Swanson, and
