4th of July Yolo Rum Cocktail Recipes

Want to wow your 4th of July party guests? Here are some awesome Yolo Rum cocktail recipes made just for the holiday.

Yolo Rum Bomb Pop Shots

Bomb Pop Shots

STEPS

STEP 1

Mix the Sprite and Yolo Rum Silver in a shaker with some ice to chill it.

STEP 2

Strain into shot glass.

STEP 3

Using a spoon turned upside down angled into the rum mix just to slightly break the surface, very slowly pour the blue curacao. It must be done with patience, or the two will mix and you won’t get the same effect. You’ll see the white layer begin to exist.

STEP 4

Next add in the grenadine. The easiest way to do this is to pour close to the edge of the glass to create an almost waterfall effect inside the glass. Since the grenadine is so thick, it’ll drop to the bottom of the glass.

YOU WILL NEED

1/3 oz. Yolo Rum Silver
1/3 oz. Sprite
2/3 oz. Blue Curacao
2/3 oz. Grenadine
Some ice
A shot glass

About Yolo Rum

YOLO Rums – from the hand of the master distiller and rum blender, Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernandez to you. “DonPancho” is the world’s most respected and honored “ronero”. Born in Cuba, where he began his quest for the perfect rum, he has gone on to receive hundreds of awards and has been acclaimed world-wide as the ultimate practitioner of his craft. Now, directly from the master Rum Blender Don Pancho “ronero”, Yolo Rum is proud to introduce YOLO RUM AGED and YOLO RUM SILVER. YOLO RUM AGED is aged more than ten years in charred American oak barrels. This creates the YOLO Aged’s rich tawny color and it’s incredibly smooth, buttery taste. It truly gives the rum connoisseur the satisfaction of sipping the finest rum in the world. YOLO SILVER RUM is the premium rum for mixing. At once slightly sweet and mildly dry, YOLO SILVER will quickly become the “secret ingredient” in your home bar. If you like vodka you will love YOLO SILVER.
YOLO Rums have been created to meet a growing demand for quality rums in an exploding market. They are the perfect marriage of an ancient craft with modern tastes. Yolo Rum founded in Denver, Colorado, has established a partnership with Consorsio Licorero Nacional S.A. of Panama City, Panama. It is a unique pairing that benefits rum aficionados searching for the ultimate rum experience.YOLO Rums are made from rare strains of sugar cane found only in a small areas of Central America and the Caribbean. A specially prepared sugar cane juice is fermented and distilled through a complex, five- stage series of operations. Then “Don Pancho” Fernandez works his magic. He dictates how and for how long the rum will be stored before he decides which blends he will craft into either light or dark liquors.Under his watchful care, the aging of the rums in charred barrels takes care of the rest. And, finally, YOLO is born. Also of note are  the added environmental benefits of the YOLO process. The sugar cane plant fiber is used to fuel the boilers that power the electrical turbines used at the factory. Any extra power goes into a grid for general use of the population. This revolutionary process has provided the distillery with a surplus of carbon credits.

National Culinarians Day

Happy Culinarian's Day from Yolo Rum

Happy Culinarians Day from Yolo Rum!

Have you ever tried cooking with rum? Yolo Rum can’t be beat when it comes down to it! What’s your favorite food to make with rum?
National Culinarians Day is celebrated each year on July 25 and is a day to honor all chefs and cooks and to show our appreciation to them. It may be the chef at your favorite restaurant or the person that cooks dinner in your home, which may be you, but whomever it is, this day is all about them. Culinary arts is the art of preparing and cooking foods. A “culinarian” is a person working in the culinary arts. Culinary education is available from many institutions offering diploma, associate, and bachelor degree programs in the culinary arts field.  Depending on the level of education desired, this can take one to four years.
If you go out to eat today, make sure and thank the chef….. if you eat at home, thank the cook!  If you are the cook, put on some fun music and enjoy your time in the kitchen!! ….but no matter what you do, try cooking and pairing your food with Yolo Rum Aged or Yolo Rum Silver!

July 10th Is Pina Colada Day, and Here Is What You Need to Know!

If you like Piña Coladas, and getting caught in the rain, then today is your day!

July 10th, also known as Piña Colada day, is celebrated by beach bums and rum drinkers alike the world over!  The origin of the drink, according to legend, dates back to the 19th century, but the popular version of the drink that we know today was created in Puerto Rico in the 1950’s.  And thus, the official drink of Puerto Rico, the Piña Colada, was born!  The drink remained popular, especially in Puerto Rico, but the Piña Colada officially gained pop culture notoriety when Rupert Holmes released his hit single “Escape” in 1979 (you know the one that goes “if you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain…“).

Pina Colada drinks on the beach
Wish you were here!

The name Piña Colada literally means “strained pineapple”, as this tropical fruit is the primary ingredient, along with coconut cream and Yolo Rum Silver.  To make the Piña Colada, take one part coconut cream, one part Yolo Silver Rum, and three parts pineapple juice, add all ingredients to a shaker with fresh ice, shake, and pour the contents into a Poco Grande glass (Hurricane glass) filled with fresh ice. (You may also blend all the ingredients with crushed ice instead.) Garnish with a cherry and a pineapple wedge.  Drink and enjoy!
So regardless of if you are at the beach, or you just wish you were at the beach, now you have every reason you need (as if you needed a reason) to pour yourself a couple Piña Colada drinks, and enjoy the rest of your day!
